So, let me tell you about a revelation I had recently that has completely transformed how I view the start of a new year. It all started when I heard about the idea of celebrating your birthday as the first day of your personal new year. It resonated with me so profoundly that I decided to embrace this concept and make my birthday, which falls on June 15th, the official beginning of my new year.
Think about it for a moment. Your birthday is a unique and special day that belongs to you alone. It marks the anniversary of the day you entered this world, bringing all the potential, dreams, and aspirations that make you who you are. So why not celebrate it as the starting point for your personal growth and development?
We often put so much emphasis on January 1st, making resolutions and setting goals for the year ahead. But let's be honest, how many of us actually stick to those resolutions? Life gets in the way, we lose motivation, and before we know it, another year has passed without much progress. By shifting our focus to our birthdays, we have a chance to make meaningful and lasting changes in our lives.
Since embracing my birthday as the first day of my new year, amazing things have happened. I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Essence Film Festival for a table read, which was both exhilarating and humbling. I also pushed myself to run in another 5K race, something I had been wanting to do for a while. And most importantly, I made a conscious effort to spend intentional time with my family, cherishing every moment and creating beautiful memories.
By celebrating my birthday as the start of my personal new year, I have become more aware of the person I am becoming. I take time to reflect on the past year, acknowledging my accomplishments, big or small, and learning from my challenges and setbacks. I set intentions and goals for the year ahead, focusing on what truly matters to me and taking actionable steps to make those dreams a reality.
To help others embrace this empowering concept, I have created a Birthday Year Vision Board Guide. This guide is designed to assist you in setting goals and intentions for your new year. It's a FREE resource that you can download and use to visualize your aspirations and keep them at the forefront of your mind. And if you feel called to support the creation of more resources like this, there is an optional donate button to contribute (no pressure)
I invite you to consider embracing your birthday as the first day of your personal new year. Take a moment to reflect on the past year and set intentions for the year ahead. Celebrate your accomplishments, big or small, and appreciate the person you are becoming.
You deserve all the love, joy, and success in the world.
Happy personal new year!
